ISAF Sailing World Cup Hyères, France

Hyeres was the first world cup regatta, with conditions we could actually stretch our legs out for a change. MacBest, who aren’t normally so consistent, decided to change their ways and were incredibly consistent for the first few days scoring between 9-11. Almost a bit too consistent, so we decided to change our tactics and scored a 1,2 on the first day of Gold Fleet racing.

On the same day MacWalsh scored similar results, Team Mac were a happy household! Unfortunately on the penultimate day MacWalsh were disqualified for being over the start too early which meant they dropped a few places, which put them out of contention for a medal spot.

Both teams made it into the medal races. The Nacras have 1 double point medal race where MacWalsh finished 4th and 9th overall. The FXs have 3 x 10minute races where MacBest scored a 4,4,7 and although we were happy with our results we dropped to 10th overall as our Italian training partners had 3 good races and over took us.

MacWalsh now have a week of training in sunny Weymouth before heading to Holland for a Euro Cup event and MacBest are heading to Lake Garda!
