Onwards and Upwards

This has been one of the most challenging blogs to write so far. Since the end of our World Championships; plans, sailing partners, decisions, you name it, it has changed.
Unfortunately at the worlds back in September Kat and I had a disappointing result. This meant that some changes, led by our federation had to take place. Kat had the option of changing partnerships due to not being able to fund all 3 FX boats, unfortunately for me she chose this route.
After changes within the squad as a whole some partnerships resigned, however I am unable to let go of Olympic Sailing. The last month I have been sailing with a variety of people to continue sailing the FX. It has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but I have found a new partnership and we are both super excited to give it all we can.
I am now sailing with Kirstie Urwin, who is a top 420 and 470 crew. Kirstie has still only sailed a skiff a handful of times but with her natural feel I’m sure she will pick up the boat handling quickly. Kirstie is currently studying Psychology and Sport Science at Exeter University. Over the next few months we will be trying to juggle both university and sailing to give Kirstie a taster of Olympic Sailing. We are heading to Abu Dhabi next week for the World Cup Final then we will be off to the World Cup in Miami.
Although the last few months have had their ups and downs I am looking forward to the new challenge that lies ahead.  Bring it!
