Gold and Silver at Sail for Gold Regatta!

Sail for Gold was a great event, even though there wasn’t the international contingency that we would have hoped to have. The race management team did a fantastic job getting all of the racing in, on time and quickly which also contributed to close racing across all of the fleets.

Lucy and Andy lead throughout the regatta winning half of the series races. On the last day they had their usual one double point medal race, which they did enough to come away with a Gold Medal!

MacBest had a slower start to the week but managed to keep 2nd place from day 2 onwards. The FX medal races consisted of 3x 10 minute races in 18-20+ knots of wind. As you can probably imagine the medal racing in lots of wind becomes a bit hectic. With a swim in race 1 and race 3 we scored 6,2,2 which was enough to keep a silver medal.

With the event being in Weymouth we gave ourselves very long days from extra gym sessions, meetings and the endless list of boat work, we are certainly looking forward to a few days rest now.

Next stop for MacWalsh is Santander in Spain, for MacBest they are back to the not so tropical Stokes Bay in the Solent.
