Twilight Walk for Women, Bournemouth!

On Friday 6th June I finished sail for Gold down in Weymouth and headed straight to Bournemouth beach to take part in the Bournemouth Hospital Charity walk for women supporting women’s health. Over 400 people signed up for the walk which started at Bournemouth Pier where you could compete in a 1km, 5km or 10km walk. There was an amazing atmosphere with a DJ, the sun was out and to top it off it was even warm.

The evening started off with an aerobic style warm up where the sea of pink t-shirts were marching, turning, clapping, the general public were definitely jealous of our moves. After the warm up the jumper came off, which everyone found very amusing that an Olympian was getting hot and sweaty from the warm up!

Then it was time to start, with a count down and a cut on the pink ribbon the pink t-shirts were off down towards Boscombe Pier and beyond for the 10km walkers.

It was a fantastic evening with a large turnout, all donations will go towards much needed equipment and resources for women’s Health.

We will look forward to supporting the charity again next year.
